Two men face charges in meth bust

Two Reading men had 1½ pounds of methamphetamine, worth about $68,100, in their car when they were pulled over in St. Clair on Thursday.

Schuylkill County District Attorney Michael A. O’Pake said Friday that members of the district attorney’s office, drug task force and state police, acting on information they had received, stopped the car.

Probable cause was subsequently established to search the vehicle, and authorities found the methamphetamine.

The men, Efrain A. Rivera-Santiago, 19, and Michael A. Ramirez, also 19, were each charged with possession with the intent to deliver (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance) (methamphetamine), criminal conspiracy possession with the intent to deliver, and criminal conspiracy possession of a controlled substance.

They were arraigned by the on-call District Judge Christina M. Hale Frackville. Both Rivera-Santiago and Ramirez were jailed under $75,000 each.
