Monroe man charged with child porn, sexual assault

A man with ties to the Monroe County area has been charged with taking nude photos of two teenage girls and sexually assaulting at least one.

Daniel Evan Palmitessa, 32, allegedly took the photos at his former residence in Stroud Township, as well as another location in the county.

Palmitessa was arrested last week after state police executed a search warrant at a hotel in the East Stroudsburg area.

On Wednesday, troopers filed additional charges against Palmitessa based on images found on a phone seized under the search warrant. He now faces 100 counts each of creating and possessing child pornography, and police say their investigation is still ongoing.

According to a press release from state police, troopers learned that Palmitessa had sexually assaulted a juvenile female at his former residence in Stroudsburg, and another location in Monroe County.

The girl told state police that he forced her to take nude photos at his residence, and that he may also have nude photos of another juvenile female.

Based on that information, police served a search warrant at the Staybridge Suites on Route 447 near East Stroudsburg, where Palmitessa had been staying.

They seized all the electronics in the room. An analysis of a cellphone belonging to Palmitessa revealed over 1,500 images that were deemed to be child pornography.

Of those, over 100 were of a juvenile who was known to state police.

Palmitessa has been charged with unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors which allegedly occurred in Stroud Township.

He is also charged with 100 counts each of manufacturing and possessing child pornography, which were filed in Smithfield Township, the location of the hotel.

He is scheduled for preliminary hearings on April 20 before district magistrate Daniel Kresge in Stroud Township, and April 25 before district magistrate Brian Germano in Smithfield Township.

Bail is set at $250,000 and $500,000 in the respective cases.
