West Penn Township supervisors

West Penn Township supervisors, on a 2-0 vote, with Supervisor Tim Houser absent, also took the following action last week:

• Agreed to dissolve the police secretary position due to budgetary constraints, with the last day being April 12. It was noted that the decision had nothing to do with the police secretary’s performance.

• Accepted resignation letters from part-time police officers Dane O’Brien and Dale Osenbach.

• Agreed to hire Paul Vlcek, Zachary Evans, Todd Woodward and Brandon Alexander as part-time police officers.

• Agreed to take $20,000 from the township’s liquid fuels account to use as a down payment for a backhoe, and to have solicitor Paul J. Datte move forward with the financing.

• Agreed to purchase a 2010 Crown Victoria from Kovatch for the township police department in the amount of $2,200.

• Agreed to purchase emergency exit lights with battery backup and LED rotatable wall packs for around the building in the amount of $2,010.

• Agreed to award bids for the West Penn Park West to whomever the park commission recommends, while the West Penn Park East will be up to the board after it talks with the township roadmaster.

• Approved a 90-day extension for the Lengel’s minor subdivision.

• Announced that the park cleanup has been rescheduled for 8 a.m. April 14.
