State police at Frackville are investigating an attempted theft incident that occurred along the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 in Foster Township, Schuylkill County, on Tuesday around 7 a.m.

Troopers said someone attempted to steal the wheels and tires off of a 2012 Chrysler 200 sedan that was parked along the road, disabled.

A passing motorist witness a man attempting to take the wheels and tire, but first thought the man was the owner of the vehicle and stopped to assist him. After the witness stopped, the man jumped into his vehicle and traveled northbound. The disabled car is the property of EZ Rent-A-Car Inc. of Pottsville.

The suspect is described as being about 6 feet tall, skinny build with a scruffy beard. He was driving a white 1990s model Chevrolet Cavalier.
