Rush Ryan seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met March 27 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 39 members in attendance. Former president Bill Morrison conducted the business session after opening the meeting with the invocation “Dawning of Springtime.”

Eleanor Schmerfeld, Nancy Godanis, Nancy Messerschmidt and John Haldeman were added to the sick list, while two new members, Helen Trimmel and Nancy Nunemacher were warmly welcomed.

Upcoming events include nomination of officers in April; annual summer picnic on July 24.

The next meeting will be held on April 10.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville and is open to anyone 55 or older.

Soup social

The next monthly community soup social at Trinity United Church of Christ will be held on Saturday. The social will be held from 4-6 p.m. in the social hall. Please use the entrance at the lower parking lot.

The meal is free to the public and everyone is welcome to enjoy the soup, desserts, refreshments and time with friends.

Citizen of the year

The annual Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce dinner will be held April 26 at the Mountain Valley Golf Course in Barnesville. The chamber’s Citizen and Business Person of the year will be honored during the dinner.

This year’s Tamaqua Citizen of the Year is Stephen Ulicny, while Linda Marchalk has been selected as Business Person of the Year.

Tickets for the dinner are now available at the chamber office, 37 W. Broad St.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, a service of worship and praise, featuring contemporary songs and updated hymns, will be held at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the service.

Activities for next week include: Monday, Celebrate Recovery men’s training at 5:30 p.m., Celebrate Recovery meets at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, TYM REMIX meets at 6:30 p.m., GriefShare meets at 7 p.m.; Thursday, musician practice at 7 p.m., worship leaders meet at 7:30 p.m.

Primitive Methodist

Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service on Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.

Hope in the Mountains NFG will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. every Thursday.

Calvary Lewistown

The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the Easter Cantata will be presented at 6:30 p.m. by the Community Choir.
