Rocks on Route 248 result in crash

State police at Lehighton responded to a crash at 2:35 p.m. March 22 on Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township which resulted from rocks falling onto the highway.

Police said Jamie L. Freeby, 32, of Parryville, was westbound in a 2013 Dodge Ram truck when the vehicle came upon the rocks that fell onto the highway from the north side of the road.

Police said the truck struck one of the rocks, resulting in the driver’s side front tire becoming damaged and flattened, after which time the vehicle struck a concrete barrier and continued west before coming to a halt in the left travel lane.

Freeby escaped injuries, as did a 4-year-old girl that was seat-belted in the vehicle.
