LCCC to offer first aid courses

Lehigh Carbon Community College, the American Heart Association and the American Health and Safety Institute will offer first aid classes designed for both adults and children, as well as in specialty cases. All classes will be held at the main campus in Schnecksville.

Pediatric First Aid is ideal for day care providers, school staff, Scout leaders, coaches or others who work with youth. It includes CPR, AED and First Aid specifically for children. Class will be held May 15 and 16, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Baby sitters wanting to know more about what to do if something happens to a child they are caring for will learn baby-sitting as a business, safety/injury prevention, leadership, play time, basic caregiving skills and basic first aid. This class is held on April 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Students wanting to learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of injury and sickness in dogs and cats, and solutions for handling emergencies can take a one-time class scheduled for April 11, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Wilderness First Aid offers training in patient assessment, tissue injuries, splinting and other topics used to save lives and limb in remote, possibly life-threatening situations. Classes will be set up upon request by calling 610-799-1574.
