Three people were arrested following an incident on Monday in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said troopers responded to the area of Main Street, Mount Carbon borough, at 6:54 p.m. for a report of suspicious individuals.

The three were located and it was learned that they each had active arrest warrants. They were identified as Corinne Wensel, 30, of Auburn; Karl Houtz, 36, of New Ringgold; and Heather Weller, 30, of Minersville.

Subsequent to arrest, Wenzel was found in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. A further search of the vehicle, a 2001 Hyundai Elantra, revealed additional controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and a prohibitive weapon (switchblade). The additional controlled substances were found beneath a child’s car seat which had just been occupied by a child.

Charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a child were filed against Weller and Houtz. Charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia were filed against Wensel.
