Latest forecast: 6-10 inches of snow

A winter storm warning is in effect until 11 p.m. today.

The National Weather Service says snow accumulations of 6 to 10  inches, with localized amounts up to 14 inches, are expected.

The snow will become heavy at times especially later this morning through early evening when snowfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour are expected. The snow then tapers off by late this evening.

Travel will be very difficult to impossible, especially during this evenings commute. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times. Once snowfall rates reach or exceed one inch per hour, it becomes difficult for road crews to keep up due to rapid accumulations. The weight of the snow on trees and power lines can lead to power outages.

Unnecessary travel is not recommended especially this afternoon and evening.
