Trainer's restaurant building goes up in flames

Trainers Inn, a Carbon county landmark for decades, has been destroyed by fire.

The structure along Route 209 in Franklin township was destroyed by a stubborn fire that took firefighters from numerous counties hours to battle.

The fire was first reported at midnight and when first responders arrived on scene they found heavy smoke pouring from the rear of the building.

Flames quickly spread throughout the two and one half story structure.

The well known eatery and watering hole had been closed for the past year and was up for sale. One official reported the owner is a woman from Lancaster.

Due to the remote location of the scene water had to be tanked into the site.

The fire was still not under control four hours into the incident.
