A look back: March 15, 1985

Meeting in regular session last night, the Panther Valley School Board names Charles Nowak, a resident of Shenandoah, to the post of business manager, filling the vacancy created when John Vignone resigned earlier this year.

Nowak’s salary is set at $25,000 for the 15-month period beginning March 25 and ending June 30 of next year. Manny Roman cast the lone dissenting vote.

Acting on the recommendation of Superintendent Dr. Richard Miller, guidance counselor Caz Kosciolek was appointed head teacher at the elementary school in Nesquehoning for the remainder of the 1984-85 term. He replaces Joanne Whitehead, who requested relief from the position.
