2-3 inches of snow possible Monday into Tuesday

A rapidly intensifying ocean storm is expected to bring snow to the area late Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service says 2 to 3 inches is expected from this storm, and with wind gusts in the 25 to

35 MPH range, blowing snow can also be expected. The Tuesday morning commute will be  impacted.

The forecast:

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 21. North wind 3 to 6 mph. 

Monday: A slight chance of snow between 11am and 1pm, then a chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. 

Monday Night: A chance of rain and snow before 7pm, then snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 28. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. 

Tuesday: A chance of rain and snow before 2pm, then a chance of rain between 2pm and 4pm, then a chance of rain and snow after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Northwest wind 9 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. 

Tuesday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers before 7pm, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. West wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. 

Wednesday: Scattered snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: A chance of flurries. Partly sunny, with a high near 39.
