Employee accused of stealing over $29,000

An employee of a Schuylkill County auto sales firm has been accused of stealing over $29,000 from her employer.

State police at Schuylkill Haven have charged Carrie Aungst, 50, of Pine Grove, with theft and receiving stolen property. Troopers said the thefts occurred at the Pine Grove Auto Sales, located at 78 Suedberg Road in Pine Grove Township.

Troopers said Aungst altered receipts and invoices on cash transactions after those transactions were made in the business’s computer system. Aungst would delete the business fees after the customer was charged, keeping the money from those fees. It was also alleged that Aungst removed a number of items gifted to the business from their online business supply company.

The total estimated value of the stolen money and merchandise is $29,384.60. The thefts occurred during the time frame of March 1, 2015, to Oct. 24, 2017.

Aungst was arraigned before District Judge David Rossi, of Tremont, and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
