Snow-covered road cause of crash

A snow-covered roadway in Lehigh County was the cause of a two-vehicle crash at 6:49 p.m. Saturday.

State police at Fogelsville said James Z. Pienta, 28, of Slatington, was northbound on Chestnut Street in Upper Milford Township when he applied his brakes for traffic that had slowed in front of him due to road conditions. His 2011 Ford Fusion lost traction and turned 90 degrees counterclockwise and then struck a 2005 Honda Pilot driven by Jennifer M. Breininger, 48, of Slatington. The Fusion then spun 270 degrees clockwise, coming to a final rest on the right shoulder. The Pilot came to rest also on the right shoulder.

Pienta, Breininger and her passenger, an 8-year-old boy, were not injured. The Fusion was towed from the scene.
