A snow-covered Monroe County road was the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Saturday at 5:56 p.m. State police at Lehighton said the crash occurred along Wilkes-Barre Turnpike, between Hemlock Lane and Mountain Road in Ross Township.

Troopers said Jennifer R. Hyer, 43, of Saylorsburg, was southbound operating a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer, while Refia Gulen, 24, of Wind Gap, was northbound driving a 2012 Nissan Versa. Both operators said that the vehicles began to slide on the roadway and entered the opposite lanes of travel and collided.

Hyer and two female juvenile passengers, ages 11 and 9, were not injured. Gulen reported minor injuries but required no medical attention. The Versa had to be towed.
