Florida man jailed after threats

A former Florida man found himself in the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville after threatening a Tamaqua woman on Feb. 9.

Borough police were called to Penn Street for a disturbance at 11:30 p.m., where Nicholas D’Angelo, 27, was reportedly banging on a door and threatening to kill the occupants of the home.

The caller said D’Angelo broke off the handle on a screen door, then moved to a window, pounding on the glass while continuing to spew threats. The victim noted the threats were related to child custody issues.

D’Angelo fled but was picked up minutes later on Spruce Street. He denied being on Penn Street or making any threats. Blood was dripping from his right hand.

He was taken to the police station where EMS personnel treated his injured hand. He refused any further medical treatment.

On-call District Judge Anthony Kilker, of Shenandoah, arraigned D’Angelo on charges of making terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal mischief. Bail was set at $5,000 straight cash, which he was unable to post.
