Woman cited for trespassing in Tamaqua

A former Barnesville resident was cited by Tamaqua police for trespassing in a vacant house where owners reported a theft on Monday.

The owners of a home on North Railroad Street contacted police at 10:28 a.m. after finding Stephanie Parliament, 31, asleep in the second floor back bedroom.

When confronted by the owners, Parliament refused to leave, so they contacted police, explaining that a nephew had been evicted from the property but kept coming back despite warnings from them, police and state Constable Charles Rodgers.

Officers went to the home, where they also found Parliament in the back bedroom.

When told she was trespassing, she told the officers it was where she lives, along with several guys.

She was escorted from the property, cited for trespassing, and told not to return.

A short time later the owners again contacted police, reporting the oil burner, new oil tank and all the radiators were missing from the home.

The investigation into the theft is continuing.

Anyone with information may contact police at 570-668-5000 or 570-668-6100.
