Carbon man facing unauthorized use

A Carbon County man is facing a charge of unauthorized use of an automobile.

Nesquehoning police said Shane Schiano, 39, of the 100 block of East Catawissa Street, Nesquehoning, has been charged in connection with an incident that occurred on Jan. 18.

Officer Timothy Wuttke reported that around 8:45 a.m. the victim told the officer he allowed Schiano, to use his 2011 Chevrolet Cruze to run to a local store and back. He said Schiano did not return with the vehicle. He also said the finance company disabled the vehicle and it was in the parking lot of Boyer’s Market in Lansford.

Lansford police located the vehicle and made contact with Schiano. He told Wuttke he knew he was only allowed to use the car to go to the store but instead met one of his friends and used the car until he was located. He told police he knew he was already in trouble, so he decided to keep going.
