Two cited in Tamaqua domestic

Two people involved in a domestic dispute in Tamaqua were cited as a result of a Feb. 5 altercation.

Catherine Mae Leshko, 23, of the 100 block of West High Street, Coaldale, called police to report being assaulted by Jeffrey Allen Gurnavage, 32, at his home on the 300 block of Arlington Street, Tamaqua.

Leshko said she had a swollen lip due to being struck by Gurnavage and agreed to drive to the police station to file a complaint and have officers document her injury.

While she was on her way, Gurnavage made his way to the police station, armed with a cellphone video showing Leshko shoving her way into his home and using a snow shovel to force her way past Gurnavage. As she entered the home, she threw several punches, striking him in the upper lip and ear. She then threw a cup of coffee at him before leaving.

When told about the video, Leshko said her injury took place before the start of the video.

Gurnavage admitted he didn’t video the entire encounter.

Both were cited for simple assault and harassment.
