East Penn horse farm erupts into flames

Nine horses and their owner safely escaped a swift-moving fire at a horse farm in East Penn Township Wednesday afternoon.

Township fire Chief Bob Kleintop said the fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. at 1227 Ben Salem Road.

Kleintop said the fire was in the front room, and within two minutes, went through the whole building.

The owner, Brewer Adams, said he was home at the time in the barn when he smelled smoke and called 911.

Adams said he has lived at the site for six years.
