Man dies in skiing accident at Blue Mountain Resort

A Philadelphia-area man is dead after a skiing accident at Blue Mountain Resort.

Grygoriy Sologub, 53, of Marcus Hook, outside of Philadelphia, died Sunday at the resort near Palmerton.

Sologub was on a double black diamond trail when the incident took place on Sunday night, according to Tricia Matsko, director of marketing and sales at Blue Mountain Resort.

Matsko said the double black diamond trail is for expert skiers, and that there have not been any other similar incidents on that particular trail that she is aware of.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family,” Matsko said. “It’s truly, truly, an unfortunate accident.”

Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller said Sologub was “hit by another skier” and died from blunt-force trauma to the head and neck.
