Emergency crews rescue man from woods

A man was rescued Monday evening from a remote area north of Lansford.

Matt Tirpak of Northeast Chemical storage facility reported hearing a voice screaming for help from the extreme east end of Dock Street.

The voice from was coming from a refuse pile nearby.

Emergency workers were contacted, the man in question was rescued relatively quickly using all-terrain vehicles, stabilized, and brought out to Edgemont Road.

“The police side of the investigation is continuing, as he was involved in a domestic situation earlier on in the day. We are looking into charges, but not related to that situation,” Lansford Chief of Police Jack Soberick said.

The incident began shortly before 5 p.m. Firefighters from Lansford, Summit Hill and Coaldale were dispatched to the scene.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to an area trauma center.

Lansford police are continuing the investigation.
