Alexander J. Alsberge, 24, of Saylorsburg, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:06 p.m. Jan. 1 on Greenhill Road in Polk Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said he sustained minor injuries and was transported by West End Ambulance to an area hospital.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Subaru Outback southbound and was traveling too fast for conditions when it slid on ice while negotiating a right curve in the roadway. The car went off the road and struck a tree on the south side of the road.

Police said Alsberge was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

The vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.
