Red Cross Bloodmobile

An American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held in Tamaqua on Jan. 17 in the social hall of St. John United Church of Christ. The church is located at 150 Pine St.

Hours will be from 1 to 6 p.m.

Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good general health, is eligible to donate blood.

Walk-ins are welcome and appointments may be made by calling 800-733-2767 or by visiting the website at redcrossblood.org.

Calvary Evangelical

The Rev. Philip Sabas will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include special music by Allie Gerber.

Also this Sunday, an evening of singing and faith will begin at 6:30 p.m.

A prayer meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 17.

The next free movie night will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 20. All are welcome.

Fly tying

A beginners fly tying class will be held on Feb. 25 at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St. The class will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.

Participants will learn the basics of fly ting for fishing. The free class is offered by Schuylkill County Trout Unlimited.

All materials and vises will be provided.

Tamaqua seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens weekly meetings will resume Jan. 11.

Meetings are held at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Tamaqua YMCA in the former Jamesway Plaza.

Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.

Primitive Methodist

Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.

A “Hope in the Mountains” NFG will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 18.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Bible study sessions are held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at this Sunday’s 9:15 a.m. worship service in St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Also on Sunday, the bell choir will rehearse at 8 a.m., Confirmation and Sunday school classes will meet at 10:30 a.m.

Activities for next week include: Wednesday, finance committee meets at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, property committee meets at 7 p.m., angel choir rehearses at 6 p.m., shepherd choir meets at 6:30 p.m. and chancel choir practice is at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Messenger assembly will be held at 9:30 a.m.
