Police are beckoned to assault incidents

State police at Lehighton have investigated two assault cases that happened in the fall of last year.

The first incident happened at 9:42 p.m. Oct. 15. Police have labeled the case a simple assault in which the victim is a 54-year-old Kunkletown woman.

Police said they were summoned for a possible assault when the victim arrived at the St. Luke’s Palmerton campus with injuries consistent with falling out of a vehicle. Police said the victim and her husband were interviewed but nothing suspicious was discovered surrounding how the injury occurred.

It was reported to have happened at the intersection of Lower Smith Gap and Blue Mountain roads in Lower Towamensing Township.

The case has been closed.

The second report is listed as an attempted sexual assault.

Police said the victim, a woman from Palmerton, reported at 4 p.m. Nov. 27 that she had possibly been sexually assaulted by a man from Lehighton in the area of the Weissport Canal property in Franklin Township.
