Harassment cases keep state police busy

State police at the Lehighton barracks investigated five separate incidents of harassment in December.

• Police were called to the 100 block of Dogwood Lane, Ross Township, at 3 p.m. Dec. 5. for a possible child abuse case, but further investigation revealed the case did not rise to the level of a crime and/or child abuse.

• Police were summoned at 9:32 p.m. Dec. 10 to the 900 block of Top Road, Polk Township. Police said a Stroudsburg man sent several text messages to a man from Gilbert, although there was no harassing material contained in the messages.

• The third harassment incident happened at 12:03 a.m. Dec. 17 in the 700 block of Carney Road, Polk Township, when a 31-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, both from Lehighton, became involved in a verbal argument that turned physical for both parties. Police said the two individuals will be cited for harassment.

• Police were summoned at 6:39 p.m. Dec. 18 to Weingartner Road, Saylorsburg, Ross Township, when a similar incident took place. They said a 28-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, both from Saylorsburg, started with a verbal altercation and continued to a physical confrontation. They too will be cited for harassment.

• The fifth case happened at 7:28 p.m. Dec. 19 in the 200 block of Franklin Street in Weissport, and involved a school-aged girl. Police said they were told the victim’s father attempted to discipline her for not doing well in school.
