Towamensing Twp. swears in officials

Towamensing Township swore in their returning supervisor and tax collectors at Thursday’s end-of-year meeting.

Solicitor Thomas Nanovic administered the oath of office to supervisor Guy Seifert, tax collector Brenda Drew, and deputy tax collector Karen Ernst.

Seifert will serve on the board for a six-year term.

Other business

• The board of supervisors adopted the 2018 budget in the amount of $1,353,620.

• The board accepted a letter from Jude Colwell of Colwell Naegele Associates on behalf of Dollar General authorizing a 90-day time extension to March 12 for a land development approval.

• The board approved a request for an eight-month time extension for Woods Campground and John A. Parr to Aug. 19 in order to satisfy their responsibilities under the Land Development Improvements Agreement with the township.

• A resolution in opposition of House Bill 1620, “Wireless Infrastructure Deployment” bill, was adopted and signed.

• The township’s reorganization meeting is set for 5 p.m. Jan. 2, and will be followed by the January meeting for the board of supervisors.

• Christmas tree pickup is set for Jan. 11, weather permitting.
