To usher in the new year, The Palmerton Lions Club will host a pork and sauerkraut dinner from noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 1 at the Sokol Hall, 452 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton.

Community members are encouraged to donate their used eyeglasses or hearing aids at this event.

Used eyeglasses can also be donated at Houser Newman Eye Associates, First Northern Bank and Trust, and Citizens Bank, all on Delaware Avenue in Palmerton; and Palmerton Area High School on Fireline Road; or by giving them to any Lions or Leo club member.
