Youth ministry

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, has announced that the only Wednesday service this week is Zero One, the church’s seventh through 12th grade ministry at 7 p.m.

Mission meal

A West End Mission meal is scheduled for 4:40 to 5:45 p.m. Thursday, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert.

No meetings

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church’s Youth Group will not meet Jan. 2 and 3.

Saylorsburg winner

Hal Sadler of Saylorsburg was among the winners in the third annual #ArtPopPocono billboard competition for 2018 Street Gallery. He and the other winners were announced at a special reception at Adams Outdoor Advertising in Stroudsburg. The 2018 winners were joined by previous ArtPopPocono billboard competition winners and congratulated by representatives from the Pocono Arts Council, ArtPop Street Gallery and Adams Outdoor Advertising. Artwork will begin to appear on local billboards in January 2018.

More than 200 artists have been featured in the program since 2014. Art + Public Outdoor Project = ArtPop.

CJERP meets

The Chestnuthill-Jackson-Eldred-Ross-Polk Regional Comprehensive group is slated to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Township municipal building.

Afternoon worship

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kresgeville will hold its regular worship services at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Then some of the church family will go Getz Personal Care Home in Jonas to lead a worship service there at 2 p.m.

Tree recycling

Eldred Township accepts Christmas trees for chipping/recycling from its residents.

Trees must be free of all ornaments, garlands and especially tinsel.

The disposal site is in the rear of the Municipal building, the driveway just west of the building.

There are signs to guide residents to the disposal area. Trees can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The township also accept brush, small trees, limbs, etc., all year-round, but it is solely for the benefit of its residents.

Needlework Group

Salem-St. Paul’s Needlework Group is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church in Kresgeville.

Tuesday meetings

The new year organizational meetings for the West End’s four townships will be:

Chestnuthill Township: 7 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.

Eldred Township 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building on Kunkletown Road in Kunkletown, followed immediately by the first regular meeting for the new year.

Polk Township: 7 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building in Kresgeville.

Ross Township: 7 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building on Anchorage Road in Saylorsburg, followed immediately by the first regular meeting for the new year.

Home Association

The West End Home Association of Post 927 Gilbert is slated to meet at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 3.

Wheeling along

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church reports that because of generous folks or families, bikes were given to: 15 children at the church’s Christmas Community Sunday Supper; 20 bikes to others through the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network and 20 bikes to individual children in the community.

Skiing discounts

West End Park & Open Space Commission is offering discounted ski tickets for Blue Mountain, Jack Frost/Big Boulder, Shawnee and Elk Mountains.

Tickets are available at the Chestnuthill Park office, 221 Route 715, Brodheadsville from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Blood drive

The season of giving continues. On Jan. 26, from 1 to 6 p.m., an American Red Cross blood drive is slated to take place at the Kunkletown fire house.
