Christmas Eve services

St. John’s Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will hold its Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Lansford

Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansford announces that on Sunday evening, the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service of Holy Communion will be held at 8 p.m. The Rev. Roy H. Koehler will preside at this service. Please note that there will be no morning worship service on the 24th. All are welcome to attend.

Lehighton

• All Saints Episcopal Church, North Second and Coal streets, 10 a.m., the Holy Eucharist with Advent readings and hymns celebrating the last Sunday in Advent. At 6 p.m. the vigil of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Eucharist with special Christmas music and the singing of “Silent Night” by candlelight.

• Bethany EC Church, 222 North St.: 7 p.m. Dec. 24, Christmas Eve Candlelight service. Community and families welcomed.

• Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St.: Upcoming Christmas Eve worship schedule includes 9:30 a.m. Service of the Word; 6 p.m. Family worship with the Trinity Praise Band providing music; 9 p.m. Traditional Candlelight worship. Holy Communion is at both evening settings.

Palmerton

• ­Blue Mountain Community Church is holidng Light for the Nations at Penn’s Peak, 325 Maury Road, Jim Thorpe, at 5 p.m. Sunday. All are welcome, free admission.

• First United Church of Christ, 457 Delaware Ave., Palmerton will hold services at 9 a.m. Sunday. Christmas Eve service will be at 8 p.m. in the sanctuary. A celebration of Christ’s birth will include carols, Communion and candlelight during the service. For those who cannot make this service, there will also be a 5 and 11 p.m. service at St. Paul’s UCC of Indianland.

• Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will hold worship services on Christmas Eve at 10:15 a.m. A candlelight service will be held at 7 p.m.

• Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) will hold a combined worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday. A Christmas Eve service at 4 p.m. will be a presentation of “The Light Before Christmas” musical. At 7 p.m. will be a traditional candlelight service with joyful music, carols and candlelight. All are invited to these services of Christmas.

Schuylkill County

Bethany & Ebenezer U.M. Churches will hold a combined Christmas Eve service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Bethany United Methodist Church, 20 Holly Road, Barnesville. For more information, contact Pastor Greg Hafer at 570-573-3788 or pastorgreghafer@comcast.net.

Tamaqua

• Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley: Dec. 24, morning worship service at 10:25 a.m.

• Revive Community Fellowship invites the community to a free Christmas Eve celebration at 10 a.m. Dec. 24. The event will be held at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.

• St. Peter’s Union Church in Mantzville: Dec. 24’s schedule will include: 9 a.m., Las Pasadas worship service: 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Christmas Eve services. All three services will include Holy Communion.

• Zion Church, Lewistown Valley: A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at 4 p.m. on Dec 24.

West End

Various West End churches have announced their respective worship services for Dec. 24, which includes the fourth Sunday of Advent services and Christmas Eve services.

• Effort UMC will hold regular worship services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. and Christmas Eve services at 6, 8 and 11 p.m. The 8 p.m. service is a traditional candle lighting service and the 11 p.m. service is a Lessons and Carols service.

• McMichaels UMC will have a 9 a.m. and a 7 p.m. worship service.

• Middlecreek Christian Church, 343 Dorshimer Road, Kresgeville, is holding a candlelight service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

• Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, offers Mass for Advent at 4 p.m. Saturday and at 8 a.m. (bilingual) and at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Masses for Christmas Eve will be at 4, 7 and 10 p.m. Sunday and at 11 a.m. Christmas Day.

• Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, will hold two services. The first is at 9 and the second at 11 a.m.

• Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran, Kresgeville, will hold regular worship services at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday and then Christmas Eve services at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.

• Salem UCC, Gilbert, will hold a worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday and then a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m.

• St. Matthew’s UCC in Kunkletown will Christmas Eve services at 9 a.m., 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. The morning service includes the children’s pageant, called “Christmas Star.” The 7 p.m. service will be a Family Table Country Christmas Service and the 10 p.m. services will be a traditional candlelight service. A nursery, for infants and children up to age 5, will be available for the 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. services on Dec. 24, but not for the 10 p.m. service.

• St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will have a regular worship service at 10 a.m. this Fourth Sunday of Advent and a 7 p.m. candlelight service for Christmas Eve later.
