The newly remodeled Aldi store along Route 443 in Lehighton held a soft-reopening Friday morning.

Closed since November for remodel work, the store now features five aisles, compared to four; an expanded line of fresh produce, dairy and bakery products; open ceilings, and LED lighting.

In February, Aldi announced an aggressive $1.6 billion investment in its stores, with an extensive plan to remodel and expand more than 1,300 U.S. stores by the end of 2020.

Aldi will hold its grand reopening Jan. 4.
