Winter weather advisory in effect

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the entire Times News coverage area.

The advisory is in effect for counties including Carbon, Schuylkill, Monroe, Lehigh and Northampton from this evening through Thursday morning around 10 a.m.

A fast moving Alberta Clipper storm system is expected to bring a widespread light to moderate snowfall to the region overnight.

Accumulations between 2-4 inches are expected, with up to 6 inches in localized areas.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibility, and use caution while driving.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission remind motorists to adjust speeds based on driving conditions as winter weather impacts Pennsylvania roadways.
