Hunter leaves gun in Penn’s Peak parking lot

State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating a theft incident that was reported to them at 5:20 p.m. Nov. 28.

The victim, a 28-year-old Jim Thorpe man, told police after a period of hunting he returned to his truck that was located in the parking lot of Penn’s Peak, 325 Maury Road, Penn Forest Township. The man said he leaned his Remington 234 pump-action gun against the truck tire of his vehicle while he loaded up the vehicle with the rest of his gear, after which time he drove away, not realizing he left the gun there.

The man said he returned to the lot the next day but the gun was gone. Police said it is believed someone took the weapon and fled the scene.
