Constructing the pedestrian bridge

Completion of the D&L pedestrian bridge across the Lehigh River in Jim Thorpe moved a step closer on Wednesday with the movement of the first of six pre-assembled sections of the bridge from the upper county parking lot down to the bridge site where two large 500-ton capacity cranes were used to transfer sections across the river to the opposite bank. With construction of bridge piers on both sides of the Lehigh River already completed, the assembly of the bridge structure can commence. VICTOR IZZO/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
