Crashes investigated

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating two crashes recently.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 11:57 a.m. Nov. 6 along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Carolee L. Kurtz, 49, of Lehighton, and Garfield E. McEachron, 21, of Blakeslee, were both northbound. McEachron slowed down to turn into the Bella Mia parking lot when his 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt was struck in the rear by Kurtz’s 2007 Dodge 1500 truck.

Neither Kurtz, her passengers Alina M. Chavez, 23, of Palmerton, and Bryanna L. Kurtz, 20, of Lehighton; nor McEachron were injured.

The Cobalt had to be towed from the scene. Troopers cited Kurtz for following too closely.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:33 p.m. Nov. 16 along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Arvilla M. Bodemer, 82, of Albrightsville, was traveling westbound when her 2003 Ford Windstar crossed the double yellow line and struck a 2011 Honda CR-V driven eastbound by Shirley L. Johnson, 59, of Kunkletown.

Bodemer was injured and taken by West End ambulance to a hospital. Johnson was not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed.

Troopers cited Bodemer for the crash.
