Uninjured driver cited after Carbon crash

Sarah R. Mantz, 33, of Palmerton, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:58 a.m. Nov. 16 on Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township, according to state police at the Lehighton barracks.

She was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

Police said Mantz was westbound on Route 248 when she became distracted. Police said she began to change lanes, during which time she lost control of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox and it struck a concrete elevated barrier. The vehicle continued in the eastbound lanes, where it rolled over onto its driver’s side, continuing to slide into the right eastbound lane until striking an embankment and coming to an uncontrolled final point of rest facing northeast.

Police said the woman was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

Blue Ridge Towing assisted police at the scene.
