Police kept busy investigating Carbon, Monroe thefts

A series of theft cases that occurred in Carbon and Monroe counties in recent weeks have kept state police at the Lehighton barracks busy.

• Police are investigating an access device fraud theft reported to them at noon Nov. 6 in the 500 block of White Street in Bowmanstown. The victim reported that someone attempted to make online purchases using the his credit card number.

• A theft by deception case was reported at 7:53 a.m. Nov. 6 on Pool Drive in Penn Forest Township. The victim is a 21-year-old township woman. Police said someone utilized a bad check in an attempt to defraud the woman, but she recognized the attempt as a scam and did not lose any money.

• A theft occurred between 2 p.m. Nov. 5 and 5 p.m. Nov. 7 on East White Street in Bowmanstown. The resident reported that someone stole his black 5- by 10-foot dump trailer that bears the registration number XKK-2982.

• A theft by deception case was reported at 7:36 p.m. Nov. 14 on Little Gap Road in the township. The victim, a 54-year-old township woman, paid a 62-year-old Lower Towamensing Township woman $1,000 for the purchase of a vehicle that she did not own.

• Police are also investigating a theft incident that occurred between midnight and 2:11 p.m. Nov. 10 in the 200 block of Lower Nis Hollow Road, Mahoning Township. The victim, a 55-year-old Lehighton man, was asked to wire money via Walmart for a plane ticket.

• A 50-year-old Gilbert man is the victim of a theft that took place between Nov. 20-21 in the 700 block of Center Road in Polk Township. Police said someone stole $875 worth of equipment from the man’s vehicle, including a Ryobi 10-inch sliding compound chop saw worth $200, a one-half stand for a chop saw valued at $100, a $100 air compressor, two 16-guage finish nailers and a 23-guage pin nailer valued at $350 and a Ryobi cordless drill, battery and charger worth $125.

• An access device fraud theft case was reported at 3:18 p.m. Nov. 7 on Interchange Road. The victim, a 44-year-old Saylorsburg woman, reported two transactions were made without authorization using her debit card. Police said there are no suspects in the case.

• Police said $5,400 worth of equipment was stolen between Nov. 7-11 in the 300 block of Memorial Drive, Polk Township. The resident reported the equipment was stolen from his property. Items include four vehicle tires valued at $300, a Wacker Neuson plate tamper worth $4,000 and a Toro Pro Line 110 lawn mower worth $1,100.
