Tamaqua Area School Board

Tamaqua Area School Board approved the following action on Tuesday:

• The retirement of custodian Joseph Wadyak, effective the end of the day Dec. 29, and custodian Patricia Valasek, effective the end of the day Jan. 19.

• The resignation of part-time paraprofessional Matthew DeAngelo, effective the end of the day Oct. 27.

• Lisa DeHaven as a part-time paraprofessional.

• Joyce Maffei from part-time paraprofessional to a substitute paraprofessional, effective immediately.

• Thomas Flamini, Robert Pickett and Alicia Kimmel as professional substitute guest teachers.

• The comprehensive plan.

• The 2018-19 Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 calendar.

• The appointment of John Hurst, business administrator, Mahanoy Area School District, as the district’s second alternate on the Act 32 Tax Collection Commission. The primary delegate will continue to be Connie Ligenza, and the first alternate will continue to be Larry Wittig.

• Corey Smith as middle school Lego Club adviser, at a stipend of $502.

• Alissa Hollenbach as band chaperone.

• The state Department of Auditor General Limited Engagement Report for July 1, 2012, through June 30, 2016.

• The following repository sales: bid of $999 from Francis Devizia for a parcel of land at 250 Brown St., Tamaqua; and a bid of $1 from George Atiyeh for a parcel located at 202 Pitt St., Tamaqua.

• The request of Adriane Drum, Drama Club director, to take the Drama Club members to New York City on April 28, 2018. The trip is paid for by the participants.

• The second reading of policies related to online course of the Tamaqua Area School District Virtual Campus and student attendance.

• The first reading of policies related to copyright material and Internet access.

The board also rescinded the motion of Oct. 17 approving Danielle Schieck as a substitute paraprofessional.
