Owl Creek Road in Tamaqua is closed to traffic after a motorist took off a utility pole.

The crash occurred at 7:30 p.m. as the motorist was traveling east in the 300 block and lost control, swerving to the right entering the berm where it impacted with and snapped off the pole. The driver is being evaluated by members of the Tamaqua ambulance.

West Penn police blocked off Owl Creek Road at Route 309 while Tamaqua fire police maintained traffic control at the scene. It is unknown how many residents are affected by the power outage. Tamaqua police are investigating the incident.
