Thanksgiving dinners

Need a meal? The following locations are serving free Thanksgiving dinners:

• St. John’s United Church of Christ, 15 South Second St., Slatington, is offering a free Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 23. Dinner will be served from noon to 2 p.m. No reservations are required, but are appreciated. All are welcome. Dinners will be delivered to “shut-ins” in the Northern Lehigh area, but calls for delivery must be received by Monday. Call the church office at 610-767-5554 to ask questions, make a reservation or request a home delivery. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday.

• The American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert will host its annual Thanksgiving dinner at noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 23, Thanksgiving Day. It is free to those in need. Contact Cam Wilson at cameronwilson72@yahoo.com.

• Effort UMC is hosting a community Thanksgiving at the church beginning at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. All are welcome.

• The Tamaqua Salvation Army is again hosting its annual free community Thanksgiving dinner. Dinner will be served on Thursday, Nov. 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Takeouts are available. Call 570-668-0410 to make delivery arrangements.
