Tamaqua police report on retail thefts

A Tamaqua man, who took a 1-pound bag of coffee from the Dunkin’ Donuts located in the Fegley Mini Mart in Tamaqua on Oct. 24, was sent to the Schuylkill County prison on Oct. 25.

• Renato Natal, 41, of Greenwood Street, initially fled the scene before officers arrived. He was picked up the next day and arraigned on felony retail theft charges, due to this being his third offense.

Bail was set at 10 percent of $10,000, which he was unable to post.

• Uzair Byrd-Williams, 18, of Spruce Street, Tamaqua, was cited for retail theft after he took a bag of candy, Swedish Fish, from Fegley’s Mini Mart on Nov. 14. The theft was reported at 3:26 p.m. The candy was valued at $1.29.

This was Byrd-Williams’ first retail theft offense.

• Daniel J. Dannenfelser, 42, who has no permanent address, was charged with retail theft and disorderly conduct after stealing $89 worth of items from the Dollar General Store on Center Street.

An officer was on patrol at 5 p.m. on Oct. 24 when he was flagged down by several people. All spoke of a man wearing a black trench coat who just ran from the store with several items. The officer caught up with a man fitting the description given and identified him as Dannenfelser. Recovered from the trench coat were a Rave wireless speaker, a Vivitar Bluetooth speaker and a Samsung Galaxy Verizon cellphone.

This is his second retail theft offense.
