Two arrested with drugs in vehicle

A call for an erratic driver in Nesquehoning netted two men who had a large amount of drugs inside their vehicle.

On Nov. 13, Nesquehoning police were dispatched for a white Chevrolet Impala driving erratically along Route 209.

Police found the vehicle parked alongside the roadway and approached the two men inside.

The men, identified as Richard Beers III of Nesquehoning and Wes Brown of Catasauqua, were taken into custody after officers found a large amount of drugs inside the car.

Beers and Brown were both charged with criminal conspiracy, possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brown was also charged with careless driving and driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Brown and Beers were taken to Carbon County Correctional Facility and arraigned before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz.

Bail was set for both men at $20,000 unsecured.

They face a preliminary hearing before Schrantz on Nov. 22.

Assisting Nesquehoning in the arrest were Lansford police.
