Weissport Borough Council

Weissport Borough Council discussed the following this week.

• Council Vice President Arland Moyer said signs have been posted throughout most of the community regarding winter parking regulations.

Leiby said no signs were placed on Bridge Street.

Moyer said this is because Bridge Street is a state highway and is maintained by the state.

After discussion on the matter, council agreed to place temporary signs on the street.

The borough’s regulation calls for odd-even parking when snow depth reaches 4 inches.

• Linda Schoenberger, a member of council, said the borough’s Christmas tree lighting program in the park will occur at 5 p.m. on Dec. 2.

• The police department will check on a car that has been parked at its same space on White Street for months. The police will contact the owner, who could possibly be cited if it isn’t moved after that.

• An open burning ordinance will be advertised for adoption by council in December.

• The council agreed to extend a trash collection agreement for one year with County Waste and Recycling.

• A budget workshop of the council will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday in the borough hall.
