State police report crashes

State police at Lehighton reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported on Oct. 27 about 3 p.m. along Hahns Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said a 17-year-old male from Palmerton was operating a 2003 GMC Sierra eastbound when the vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and struck a rock embankment, then rolled over completely, and into the eastbound lane and back on its wheels. After rolling over onto its wheels the vehicle it came to final rest facing northeast.

The teen and his 17-year-old male passenger, also from Palmerton, were not injured. The GMC had to be towed. The teen was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• A two-vehicle crash occurred at 10 a.m. on Oct. 28 along Route 115 in Polk Township. Troopers said Judyann L. Hitchcock, 68, of Saylorsburg, was stopped in the northbound lane waiting to turn left onto Briar Road, when the front end of a 2009 Infiniti G37X, driven by Konrad M. Nierwinski, 40, of Albrightsville, struck the rear of Hitchock’s 2005 Volkswagen Jetta. Troopers said Nierwinski became distracted prior to the crash.

No one was injured but the Infiniti was towed from the scene. Niewinski was cited for careless driving.

• Also on Oct. 28 at 4:38 p.m. a one-vehicle crash occurred along Spruce Hollow Road, in Towamensing Township. Clarence W. Morris, 43, of Albrightsville, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt southbound and was unable to negotiate a right hand curve. The car went onto the east berm and struck a hill, overturning onto its roof, where it came to rest.

Morris and passengers Bonnie L. Campbell, 45, and a 16-year-old male, both from Albrightsville, were injured and taken by Lehighton EMS unit to the Lehighton hospital.
