Carbon County court — ARD

Six first-time offenders were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.

Kristin N. Eschbach

, 35, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence. She was arrested on June 25 by Lehighton police along Route 443. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $600 for the cost of the program, ordered to render 50 hours of community service, her license was suspended for 60 days and she must follow any recommendation of her drug and alcohol evaluation.

Lee Ann Lloyd,

61, of Mountain Top, was placed on a charge of criminal mischief. She was arrested on May 19 by Lehighton police for an incident in the borough. She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and make restitution of $988.58.

Kira Dawn Nelson,

25, of Lehighton, was placed on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. She was arrested on June 5 by Lehighton police along North Fourth Street. She was assessed $650 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Zachary Carl Simmons,

28, of Jim Thorpe, was placed for two years on a charge of theft by unlawful taking. He was arrested on May 3 by Jim Thorpe police for an incident at the Mauch Chunk Rod & Gun Club.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 100 hours of community service, get a mental health evaluation and make restitution to the gun club for $1,000.

Tyana Telina Sommers,

20, of Allentown, was placed on a charge of persistent disorderly conduct. She was arrested on June 18 by Lehighton police for an incident in the borough.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.

Nicholas Neri Thorpe,

29, of Lansford, was placed for two years on a charge of indecent exposure. He was arrested on Feb. 16, 2016, by state police at Fern Ridge for an incident along South Tupelo Street in Penn Forest Township. Thorpe, a UPS delivery person at the time, exposed himself to a female while delivering a package, troopers said.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 100 hours of community service, get a mental health evaluation and have no contact with the victim. The victim agreed to the ARD placement.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
