A Northumberland County motorcyclist suffered injuries in a crash at 8:14 a.m. Wednesday in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Bill D. Pena, 33, of Mount Carmel, was operating a 1999 Yamaha YZF eastbound on Route 903 in Butler Township, just over the boundary line with Northumberland County, and cresting a hill while negotiating a sweeping left curve.

Pena lost control of the bike which fell onto its left side and spun 180 degrees. The bike slid off the right side of the road with the rear tire impacting a guide rail post, causing the bike to come to a sudden stop. Pena was thrown off the bike.

Pena, who was wearing a protective helmet, was taken to the Geisinger/Shamokin hospital by a family member for treatment of leg and hand injuries.

Troopers cited him for the crash.
