Disturbance results in drug possession charges

When state police at the Lehighton barracks reported to a disturbance at Cherry’s Restaurant, Polk Township, at 7:46 a.m. Saturday, the response resulted in the filing of drug possession charges and other offenses.

Police said the suspects are a 28-year-old woman from Philadelphia and a 25-year-old woman from Ben Salem.

Police said they found the two women in intoxicated states, causing a disturbance inside the restaurant. After they were escorted from the business, police said one of the women was found to be wanted on a warrant out of New Jersey. She was also found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine, heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Police said the incident resulted in charges under Act 64, as well as citations for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
