Suspect ID'd in shooting that grew out of family matter

MARTINS CREEK, Pa. (AP) — Authorities have publicly identified a man jailed charged with fatally shooting a relative following an argument in his eastern Pennsylvania home.

Fifty-two-year-old Dennis Maurice Long was jailed in Northampton County on Monday without bond on a charge of criminal homicide.

State police say Long shot 26-year-old Ryan Boomer in the upper torso at about 10 p.m. Saturday in Lower Mount Bethel Township.

District Attorney John Morganelli says Long was arrested without incident and explained the two men were family members though the prosecutor couldn't immediately say how they were related.

Morganelli says the shooting stemmed from unspecified "family issues."

Online court records don't list an attorney for Long.
