Lehighton to be featured in ‘Our Town’ video

Lehighton could soon find itself in the spotlight by a way of a highly esteemed video documentary.

Borough council unanimously agreed on Monday for the borough to pursue the “Our Town,” Lehighton documentary.

Borough Manager Nicole Beckett said the documentary would air on WVIA and focus on a day in the life to profile the people, places and happenings as told by people vested in the community.

She said an organizational meeting would be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8, followed by a community meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 15, with premiere night sometime in May.

Beckett said the borough would be the second town in Carbon County to be featured in the “Our Town,” series, with Jim Thorpe having previously been highlighted.

Over in Schuylkill County, the broadcast premier of “Our Town,” Tamaqua, aired on WVIA in June.
