A look back: October 20, 1962

State trooper George Caldarelli, president of Lodge 40 of the Fraternal Order of Police, urged all FOP member troopers be polled on the retention of Commander Frank McCartney, whose tenure has been marked with the resignation of veteran state police personnel and there have been widespread reports of dissatisfaction among troopers over changes in assignments and time off.

Caldarelli refuted newspaper reports that indicated the retention of McCartney was favored by all state police FOP members, calling for all 15 state police lodges to conduct a vote and send the results to state FOP President John Harrington.
